Monday Morning Mojo: Fall Real Estate Market…
One of the common misconceptions I often hear up here in AK is the assumption that summer is the best time to sell a home, and that before or after summer the market drops off. The assumption tends to be that fall is a bad time to sell a home.
However, my experience after 11 years in the local market, is that in terms of overall activity and sales volume, spring and fall are the hardest hitters.
Why? While it varies somewhat year by year, my thought is that during the summer people are busy… school is out, people are traveling, enjoying the outdoors, fishing, etc. By about this time – the end of summer – everyone is getting back to normal life, and there’s the feeling that winter is on its way in the not-so-distant future. Serious home buying then tends to take center stage!
This year, July and early- to mid-August were fairly slow, but things have definitely started to pick up here recently. Personally, I’ve gotten three offers accepted on my sellers’ properties in the past week – one with a four-offer multiple offer situation!
If you’d like to sell your Anchorage or Mat-Su Valley home, don’t worry; it’s not too late! In fact, if anything, it’s just getting good.
Let me know if I can help by providing a free market analysis and explaining my services in more detail!
Happy Monday!
